#3/20 – Your website is not about you
Thought experiment #1
What if you removed YOU from your website? What’s left?
❌ No Homepage
❌ No Products or Services
❌ No About Us
❌ No Contact Us
❌ No Logo
Thought experiment #2
What if your website could only feature your customers, not you?
✅ Homepage → your customers’ dream outcomes.
✅ Products/Services → case studies and testimonials.
✅ About Us → short films about your customers.
✅ Contact Us → a community-based forum
✅ Your logo → well, okay, you can keep your logo!
How much is your website just you talking about yourself?
For day 3 of 20 Website Tips for People People 😊 I wanted to get you thinking.
The best websites aren’t digital megaphones – they’re mirrors that reflect what people want to see: a successful version of themselves.
People easily understand the story when they see themselves in it.
You’re probably not going to completely remove yourself from your website. But shifting from “we’re awesome” to “here's how others like you succeeded“ can be a great way to let visitors know you’ve got their back.
Quick pro tip: Count how many times you say “we” vs. “you” on your homepage. The results might surprise you!
