#14/20 – Good manners elevate your website

Here’s a surprising tip to elevate your website, without touching the design:

Hire your mum. Here’s why…

Most websites are cold, impersonal and a bit rude.

(Check your competitors’ websites — you’ll see what I mean.)

So when you add a bit of warmth and some good old-fashioned manners, your website will stand head and shoulders above the rest.

Remember those manners your mum taught you?

  1. Make guests feel welcome → Don’t talk about yourself. Focus on them.

  2. Be a good host → Lead the way. Don’t leave visitors to fend for themselves.

  3. Don’t interrupt → Get rid of those aggressive pop-ups.

  4. Introduce yourself properly → Create a clear and welcoming homepage.

  5. Say ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ → Make instructional text kind and friendly.

  6. Listen when others speak → Ask for feedback to improve your website.

  7. Keep your promises → Don’t use click-bait headings.

It doesn’t take much to make a website feel more personable.

Ask your mum to rate your website’s manners. 😊

Because good manners will elevate your website.
